Leaving Room
for God

Romans 12:19-21

•Romans 12

17  Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

•Romans 12

19  Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord.

20“BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.”

21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

•Romans 12:19-21
1.Believers in Christ are to live in peace and not seek to avenge themselves (vv.19,20)

What is revenge? An act of retaliation in order to get even, taking opportunity for getting satisfaction for a wrong that has been committed against you.

What is vengeance? The act of giving justice and punishment for the offense of wrong doers; to avenge those who have been wronged.

•Leviticus 19:18

   “You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself;

     I am the Lord.”

•Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

•Believe: Live: Share: Multiply
•Believe: We are to trust in the goodness and justice of God
•Live: We are to do good to those who hurt and offend us
•Share: We are to tell others of the reality of final judgment
•Multiply: We are to model what it means to be a Christ-like peacemaker
