40 Days to Easter Prayer

Our prayer emphasis continues with 40 Days to Easter. We encourage every member to take at least 5-10 minutes each day to spend time in prayer for specific topics related to this Easter season! Set your alarm for a consistent time each day to spend a few minutes in prayer.

We hope you will use the prompts below as a guide to pray for each day!

February 25 - Delight (Psalm 1:1-6)

  • As we anticipate Easter, we want to let Scripture guide our prayers. For the first 10 of the 40 days, we will use selected Psalms as guides to pray. Beginning with Psalm 1, read each verse and use that reading as a guide on what to pray to God.

February 26 - Magnificent (Psalm 8:1-9)

  • From the reaches of the galaxies to the mouths of babies, our God is magnificent. Honor God by magnifying His name.

February 27 - Confident (Psalm 27:1-14)

  • Who do you have confidence in? Thanks be to God that He is light and salvation, beautiful and steadfast.

February 28 - Refuge (Psalm 46:1-11)

  • Our God never stops being a refuge and help for His people. He never takes a break! May today be a reminder to be still and know God.

March 1 - Praise (Psalm 67:1-7)

  • God is worthy of praise from all the nations. Consider our international workers throughout this Psalm as we support them to take the gospel to all nations.

March 2 - Salvation (Psalm 95:1-11)

  • Blessed be the Rock! Learn from Israel’s past and don’t give in to a hardened heart. Come before the Lord humbly, like sheep before a shepherd.

March 3 - Gladness (Psalm 100:1-5)

  • Gladness and thanksgiving characterize this short Psalm. Is the same true of your life? Pray these verses to the Lord and let them be consistent in your life.

March 4 - Provision (Psalm 111:1-10)

  • The Lord’s provision has always been evident in the lives of His people. Thank Him for His provision for the Psalmist and in your life.

March 5 - Known (Psalm 139:1-24)

  • God knows you completely and loves you deeply. Reflect on the truths of this Psalm and the depths to which God has shown His love for you.

March 6 - Worthy (Psalm 145:1-21)

  • Great is the Lord and worthy to be praised! We end the first quarter of this prayer emphasis by declaring God, and God alone, to be worthy of our praise.

March 7 - Invite (John 1:35-42)

  • For the Saturdays in March, we will pray for our unbelieving friends and neighbors who don’t know Jesus. Who do you need to invite and bring to Jesus? Pray for someone you can share the gospel with and invite them to attend church with you on Easter Sunday (April 5).

March 8 - Gathering (Hebrews 10:24-25)

  • Praise God for the gift that it is to gather today. Pray for our worship, the preaching and the singing, to glorify Christ.

March 9 - Dwell (Colossians 3:12-17)

  • As you enter another work week, dwell on God’s Word that you have prayed over the last couple of weeks. Ask that God would allow you to recall Scripture to your mind throughout the day.

March 10 - Staff (1 Timothy 2:1-7)

  • Pray for our church staff as they meet today. Pray for wisdom, discernment, and a commitment to gospel-centered ministry.

March 11 - Care Groups (Acts 2:42-47)

  • Lift up Care Groups that will meet tonight and throughout the week. Pray specifically for Care Group leaders, who serve our church in a variety of ways and serve under the elders as shepherds of our groups.

March 12 - Next Gen (Psalm 78:1-4)

  • Thank God for the Next Gen staff and volunteers at Open Door. Consider how you might be involved to serve and pass on the gospel to the younger generations.

March 13 - LEAN (Isa 40:27-31)

  • Pray specifically for our LEAN families today. Ask God that the families would experience His strength during difficult times and praise Him for the volunteers who faithfully serve these families each week.

March 14 - Invite (John 1:35-42)

  • Who do you need to invite and bring to Jesus? Pray for someone you can share the gospel with and invite them to attend church with you on Easter Sunday (April 5).

March 15 - Believe (John 20:30-31)

  • The stories of the Bible are included so that we may believe in Jesus Christ and have life in His name. Praise God for the gift of believing.

March 16 - Live (Romans 12:10-16)

  • Reflect on the one another's of the New Testament. Are you living those out well in church community? Encourage a brother or sister at Open Door this week.

March 17 - Share (1 Peter 3:15-16)

  • Practice rehearsing the gospel to yourself. Pray for opportunities to share your testimony and the gospel with someone this week.

March 18 - Multiply (Acts 14:21-28)

  • Pray today for the missionaries and church planters that have been sent out by Open Door. Consider how you might support and encourage them.

March 19 - Women (Psalm 23:1-6)

  • Pray that the women in our church would experience the “overflowing peace” of God that was considered at Adorned and in this Psalm. Pray for a sense of nearness from God, our Good Shepherd.

March 20 - Men (Daniel 6:1-5)

  • Pray for the men in our church who will be at the Men’s Retreat this weekend. Pray that God would work in their hearts as they learn to be “A Faithful Man.”

March 21 - Invite (John 1:35-42)

  • Who do you need to invite and bring to Jesus? Pray for someone you can share the gospel with and invite them to attend church with you on Easter Sunday (April 5).

March 22 - Saints (Colossians 1:1-8)

  • Colossians 1 is a treasure trove of rich theology and appropriate as we anticipate our Lord’s final weeks on earth. Today, give thanks for the saints in your life, especially those who first told you about the hope of the gospel.

March 23 - Strengthened (Colossians 1:9-12)

  • God desires that you would be filled with the knowledge of His will in order to walk worthy. Pray that His power would strengthen you for this walk and to joyfully endure.

March 24 - Rescue (Colossians 1:13-14)

  • Paul gives several images here that help us to appreciate our salvation. Thank God for the rescue, transfer, redemption, and forgiveness we have in Him.

March 25 - First (Colossians 1:15-20)

  • Christ holds first place in creation and in the church. Does He hold first place in your life? What is stopping you from putting Him first?

March 26 - Reconciled (Colossians 1:21-23)

  • As Paul reflects on the great Christ hymn, he is reminded of our great need. Thank God that you have been reconciled, brought back, to Him by grace.

March 27 - Neighborfest (Galatians 5:13-14)

  • Consider how you can serve and be a good neighbor at Neighborfest tomorrow. Pray for good weather, smooth logistics, and gospel conversations.

March 28 - Invite (John 1:35-42)

  • Who do you need to invite and bring to Jesus? Pray for someone you can share the gospel with and invite them to attend church with you on Easter Sunday (April 5).

March 29 - Hosanna (Matthew 21:8-11)

  • Only this Palm Sunday, spend some prayer time with “Hosanna,” praising and adoring King Jesus. See how worthy our humble King is to be praised.

March 30 - Suffering Servant (Isa 52:13-53:12)

  • Centuries before Jesus, Isaiah prophesied about a messianic Suffering Servant. As we consider the final week of His life, praise Jesus for fulfilling His mission to us.

March 31 - Atonement (1 John 2:1-2)

  • Confess your sins that Christ has atoned for. Pray for those in this world who do not yet know that their sins can be atoned for in Christ.

April 1 - Blood (Hebrews 9:11-14)

  • The blood of Christ is an all-sufficient and once-for-all sacrifice, better than the blood of animals. Thank Jesus for His atoning blood.

April 2 - Broken (Matt 26:26-20)

  • At the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrated how His body would be broken and His blood poured out for us. Praise God for the regular reminder we have of this when we take the Lord’s Supper together.

April 3 - Cross (Philippians 2:5-8)

  • Jesus willingly and obediently went to the cross for you and I. Thank Him for His sacrifice and seek to imitate His humility.

April 4 - Substitute (2 Cor 5:18-21)

  • As Christ lay in the grave on Saturday, He lay there as our substitute. He who knew no sin became sin for us.

April 5 - Resurrection (1 Cor 15:20-23)

  • He is risen! Praise God for Easter morning and the resurrection of Christ! Because He lives, we can now live in victory.
