Children's Ministry

The Children’s Ministry at Open Door is committed to building the gospel of Jesus Christ into the lives of the children in our care.  We are committed to instructing children according to their ability to learn, understand, and apply the truths of the Bible. It is our goal to lay a gospel foundation in the lives of children so the Spirit can work in their hearts to bring them to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Preschool Classes: 9:30am & 11:00am

On Sunday mornings, we offer eight preschool classes, divided by age, ranging from infants to four years old. In their classes we provide meaningful play and interaction while you attend a Discipleship Class and Worship. Children two and up will participate in a Sunday School lesson, which is reinforced through centers and crafts.

Sunday School: 9:30am & 11:00am

Sunday School is the primary venue at Open Door for children to engage the Bible. Our Sunday School classes provide age-appropriate lessons and activities that guide the children as they grow in knowledge of God’s word. Our desire is that children in our SS classes would have a basic understanding of biblical history and how each part of the Bible finds its fulfillment in Christ and the gospel. This will, by God’s work in their lives, bring them to see their own need for a Savior and lead them to salvation.

Kid Zone (K - 2nd): 11:00am

Kid Zone provides our children with an opportunity to engage in corporate worship in an age-appropriate setting. Understanding the needs of children, the Kid Zone experience is meant to be engaging and fun while also being purposeful and instructive. Kid Zone provides times of worship through teaching and music that lead our children into the understanding that they have been created to worship God with all of their lives.

AWANA - Sunday Evenings: 5:45-7:15pm

AWANA reaches kids for Christ through fun, Scripture-rich experiences that lead them to know, love, and serve Christ. In AWANA, our children engage the Bible through memorization of verses, listening to Bible lessons, and doing other projects that challenge them to grow in their faith and to be on mission for Christ.
