OD Kids Ministry
The Kids Ministry at Open Door is committed to building the gospel of Jesus Christ into the lives of the preschool and elementary age children in our care. We are committed to instructing children according to their ability to learn, understand, and apply the truths of the Bible. It is our goal to lay a gospel foundation in the lives of children so the Spirit can work in their hearts to bring them to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
For those who will visit with us on Sunday morning, you can find the OD Kids Welcome Desk by heading down the stairs near the elevator in the main lobby of the church.
Preschool Classes (1-4 year olds): 9:15am and 11:00am
On Sunday mornings, we offer classes for birth through 4 years old during the 9:15am and 11am services. In their classes we provide meaningful play and interaction while you attend Worship. Children two and up will participate in a Sunday School lesson, which is reinforced through songs and crafts.
Lower Elementary Discipleship (K-2nd)
K-2nd Grade Classes
These classes will consist of Scripture reading, a weekly lesson, and related activities. We look forward to helping your children love God and grow in their faith as they study the Scriptures. K-2nd classes meet downstairs at 9:15am in Rooms 112-114.
Blaze
Blaze provides our children with an opportunity to engage in corporate worship in an age-appropriate setting. Understanding the needs of children, the Blaze experience is meant to be engaging and fun while also being purposeful and instructive. Blaze provides times of worship through teaching and music that lead our children into the understanding that they have been created to worship God with all of their lives. Blaze meets downstairs in the Children's Center at 11:00am.
Upper Elementary Discipleship (3rd-5th)
We offer our 3rd-5th Sunday School classes on both Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Sunday evening consists of three distinct classes that focus on bible study and then conclude with a time of games. On Sunday morning, we offer a combined 3rd-5th class at 9:15am and 11:00am in the Student Center. These classes are not a repeat of Sunday evening classes but offer a unique curriculum that includes small group discussion.
If you are interested in bringing your upper elementary student on Sunday evening, the schedule is as follows:
- 5:30-5:45 - Dropoff (Room 202/Mirror Room)
- 5:45-5:55 - Large Group Warmup
- 6:00-6:40 - 3rd-5th Classes
- 6:45-7:10 - Large Group Games
- 7:15-7:30 - Pickup (Room 202/Mirror Room)
AWANA
AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. It is a disciple-making tool rooted in Scripture memorization. Included in every AWANA night is a Bible lesson and games as well. Open Door AWANA meets on Sundays from 5:45 to 7:15pm. AWANA is for kids age 2 through 5th grade*. Dues are $15/child (max $50/family).
